They are no thicker than the rubber on the end of a pencil. People who see them for the first time think they look like rabbit food or pony nuts, but there is nothing small about the heat energy in a wood pellet. These clean burning wood pellets generate about 8200 BTU's per pound with very little ash and low moisture content.
Barbecue wood pellets are produced in the same manner as wood pellet fuel is produced for home heating. Pure raw material (sawdust) is pulverised with a hammermill and the material is pushed through a die at pressure above 3000 psi. as the pellet is forced through the die it is sheared off at a specific maximum length, cooled, screened, vacuumed and then bagged into 20 lbs bags. The general specification for barbeque pellets is 100% hardwood, with no additives or chemicals. You may use any brand of bbq wood pellet in your Louisiana Grill. Our own brand pellets are available in the UK in 9 kg (20 lbs) bags in the following flavours:
